Rwanda one of Africa’s best travel destinations will soon yield results after focusing on the road show to promote Rwanda as a new tourism investment opportunity in India. The Rwanda Development Board in cooperation with the Rwanda High Commission in India organized an Indian travel market earlier this month as the first major initiative undertaken by an African country following the successful India Africa Summit hosted last October in 2015 by the Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi. The event was intended to draw thousands of Indian tourists together with investors to Rwanda having seen the beauty and untapped investment opportunities available in the country. The Outbound travel mart which closed on February 20th 2016 showcased all Rwanda tourist attractions and investment opportunities in tourism and hospitality market in India Mumbai city and the event attracted over 1000 exhibitors from seventy five countries.
The three day trade fair was one of the largest fairs in India and Rwanda representatives, Tour operators and hotels presented excellent Rwanda attractions and safari adventures in style to the entire fair guest inspiring them to come to Africa and confirm the true beauty Rwanda. During the show Rwandans connected with businessmen & women across the globe through conversations about Rwanda tourism and travel holidays hence attracting more foreign tourists from Asia and all over the world. Even the chief Tourism officer of Rwanda Development Board Belise Kariza said that Rwanda involvement at the outbound travel show opens opportunities to hit into the fast growing tourist market.“India is an emerging key source market for Rwanda, with 15 million travelers and $12.3 billion spending globally in foreign destinations annually, excluding transport,” Kariza is quoted in the statement. Major organizers of Rwanda safaris & Rwanda officials also said that Rwanda will represent itself as the leading business and tourism destination in Africa as well as fronting its wide range of outstanding attractions for leisure and business.
Mumbai being the prime business center of India, the show was indeed successful for Rwanda and it actively promoted all its attractions and investment opportunities to the world. The trade show gave Rwanda great hope for more travel business travelers in future having had an increase in the business travelers from 3675-6340 with a period of five years according to the Rwanda Development Board. However, with the 55% increase the Rwanda Development Board believes that the country will yield more this year and in the future.
