Montauk and East Hampton Become NYC’s Expensive Destinations

Montauk

Two destinations along the eastern end of Long Island’s South Shore have proven themselves to be the most expensive in New York this summer. A recent survey from NewYorkHotels.org has ranked Montauk and East Hampton the costliest locales in the state based on their lodging cost. Twenty main destinations throughout the state of New York were compared in coming up with the rankings.

The average price a prospective guest could anticipate spending for the most affordable room this August was established for each destination. In devising the rankings, the survey excluded hotels and inns with ratings below 3 stars and those that were not situated conveniently close to the beach or city center.

Topping the list is Montauk at an average overnight cost of $342. The neighboring town of East Hampton comes in second on the survey’s rankings. Only slightly more affordable at an average rate of $332 per night, it easily took the number two spot. The resort destination of Saratoga Springs completes the Top 3 with an average nightly rate of $312.
